Biography
Notes:
Bess is one of the best rebounders in the country. She has the ability to score from the low and high post spots. She is also one of the top defenders on the team. The team's most senior member, and team captain.
As a Junior:Started all 22 games for the Mustangs and averaged 27.7 minutes per game. Bess was the only player in the CIS to average a double-double tallying 13.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Was named a First Team OUA West All-Star. Continued to shot effectively from the field hitting at a 48.6% from the field. Broke into second all-time in rebounds at Western behind Julie Lamparski. Had a season high 19 rebounds vs. Brock on January 5. Had a season high 26 points vs. UofT on November 30.
As a sophomore:
Started all 22 games for the Mustangs and averaged 31.6 minutes per game. She averaged just shy of a double-double, with 9.6 points and 9.7 rebounds a game. Shot an impressive 49.5% from the field. Had a season high 20 points vs. Lakehead on January 26. Had a season high 18 rebounds vs. Guelph on January 20. Also had a spectacular 16 point, 17 rebound performance vs. Guelph on January 6.
As a Freshman:
Bess averaged 6.3 points and 7 rebounds last season in 19 minutes per game. Shot an impressive 53% from the field. Had a game high 11 rebounds vs. Guelph on 11/28. Had 14 points vs. Lakehead on 12/03. Scored 16 points vs. Laurentian on 01/07.
Ashbury College:
Team MVP in 2003-2004... "AAA" OFSAA Champions 2001-02... "A" OFSAA Champions in 2003-04... Athletics & Academics Award winner... John "Tiger" Conelly Sportsmanship Award winner in 2003-04. Four year honour roll student.
