Funded by generous donations from the Western Alumni Association, Alumni Hall is one of the more iconic buildings on campus that stands broadly at the edge of Alumni Circle. It holds much more than an impressive auditorium, classrooms, and practice facilities as in addition to hosting the University’s annual convocation ceremonies, Alumni Hall is also home to the Mustangs Basketball, Volleyball and Wrestling teams, as well as the J.P. Metras Memorial Sports Museum.Â
Alumni Hall features auditorium style seating, with moveable chairs for the floor area and a mezzanine featuring fixed chairs with moveable table arms. Whether you are attending a show, speaking event, or simply coming to cheer on your Mustangs, you will certainly enjoy yourself as there is no bad seat in the house. Adaptable for various events, Alumni Hall has movable basketball standards and regularly hosts Mustangs basketball and volleyball events as well as wrestling meets including the 2013 CIS Wrestling Championships.
Located directly to the left inside of the main entrance, the J.P. Metras Sports Museum is sponsored by the Women’s Athletic Alumni and the Men’s ‘W’ Club. It was established in 2010 with the generous support of the Bob Gage Metras Museum Fund, named in recognition of a generous gift from the Estate of Bob "Scoop" Gage, a proud member of the ‘W’ Club Hall of Fame and respected sports journalist, who covered the Western Mustangs throughout his 33 years with
The London Free Press. The fund is a fitting tribute to Gage, and will support the J.P. Metras Memorial Sports Museum and help preserve the legacy of Mustang Athletics for future generations. A significant donation was also made to the museum by London Life. The Museum will normally be open during intercollegiate athletic games and other special events. It can also be opened upon request.
