Julie-Anne Staehli enters her first season as assistant coach of the Mustang’s cross country team for the 2018-19 season.  After finishing her 5 years of eligibility on the Queen’s Varsity cross country team in 2016, Staehli was an assistant coach for Queen’s in 2017, and is now continuing her running and coaching career in London.

During her 5 years as a Gael on the cross country and track team, Staehli had 12 individual podium finishes at the OUA and U SPORTS Championships, earning three individual gold medals, and becoming the first student-athlete in Queen’s history to be a 5-Time All-Canadian.  As well, Staehli is a five-time Canadian national team member, most recently qualifying for the 2018 Pan American Cross Country Championships. Staehli plans to continue competing at the national level in both cross country and track, with the hopes of making more national teams in the future.

Alongside Staehli’s running career, she successfully completed her Bachelor of Arts, Honours in Health Studies in 2016, and is now finishing her Master of Science in Sport Psychology, specializing in team leadership and organization in the high performance sport context.  With an invested interest in academics and athletics from her experiences as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and teaching assistant, Staehli plans to bring these disciplines together into her passion for teaching and learning in higher education.
