Fifth-year captain and guard Amanda Anderson (Chatham, Ont.) recorded her 7th consecutive games with 19 points or more in a pair of wins last week for the Western Mustangs women's basketball team.
Anderson finished the week with 53 points - 24 from three-pointers - eight steals and nine assists along with 10 rebounds in two games.
"Amanda was tremendous this week," said Western Mustangs women's basketball head coach Stephan Barrie. "In a week where we struggled with our energy, as players were sick and injured, Amanda willed us to two tough wins. She showed the resiliency that has made her such a terrific player."
On Wednesday Jan. 13, Anderson's Mustangs defeated the Guelph Gryphons on the road 61-51. Anderson led with a game-high 25 points, including five three-pointers, along with three assists and three steals. She was equally outstanding on the defensive end of the floor, helping Western to hold the Gryphons to just 51 points.
Anderson continued her strong play on Saturday Jan. 16, scoring a game-high 28 points along with six assists and five steals in a thrilling 76-75 overtime win over the Brock Badgers in a battle for second place in the OUA West. She also added seven boards and played a strong defensive game on her 23rd birthday.
