Fifth-year senior point guard Amanda Anderson moved deeper into OUA women's basketball history on the weekend, leading her team to a weekend split in Thunder Bay, Ont., against Lakehead and moving in the the No. 2 spot in OUA career scoring.
With 34 points, two steals, three rebounds, an assist and a solid defensive performance on the weekend, Anderson hit a league milestone amassing 1,626 career points to propel her into second place in the OUA record books. Anderson sits second behind Cassandra Carpenter of Laurentian who holds the first-place position with 2,171 points.
In the Feb. 19 win over Lakehead, Anderson poured in 19 points to move into third place overall in OUA career scoring, giving her 1,611 career points. Then on Feb. 20 in a loss to Lakehead, Anderson added 15 points to close out a terrific season. The psychology major finishes the 2009-10 campaign second in the province in scoring averaging 18.48 points per game for a total 388 points. She added 41 steals, 68 assists and an impressive 40.8 three-point shooting percentage (60 successful threes) in 21 contests.
Anderson and the Mustangs will begin their playoff journey a week from today, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. at Alumni Hall against either Lakehead or Wilfrid Laurier.
