Blues defeat Mustangs 3-1 in second game of young season

Oct. 25: Western 1 Toronto 3 (16-25, 25-20, 25-27, 18-25)

LONDON, Ont. - The Western women’s volleyball team lost 3-1 (16-25, 25-20, 25-27, 18-25) to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Oct. 25 at Alumni Hall.
 
The game’s top scorer and current first place leader in OUA rankings was Toronto’s Heather Bansley (Waterdown, Ont.), who finished with 25 points, including 20 kills. Other OUA leaders, Karlee Diesing (Coquitlam, B.C.) and Kristina Valjas (Toronto), were top scorers with 18 points and 17 points, respectively.
 
Elaine Screaton (Calgary, Alta.) led the Mustangs with 12 points. Following closely behind with 11 points each was Sara Farrell (London, Ont.) and Sarah Lowry (Calgary, Alta.)
 
The Mustangs are back at Alumni Hall on Oct. 31 at 6:00 p.m. to play McMaster in a rematch between the top two teams in the OUA West from 2008-09.
