Gee-Gees shutout by Mustangs 3-0

The Mustangs shutout the Gee-Gees in three-set sweep (25-12, 25-15, 25-14) at Alumni Hall on Nov. 14

LONDON, Ont. - The women’s volleyball team improved its record to 4-1 with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-14) win over Ottawa on Nov. 14 at Alumni Hall.

This was the Mustangs’ third consecutive 3-0 sweep, and fourth of the season, spoiled only by a 3-1 loss to Toronto on Oct. 25.

Elaine Screaton (Calgary, Alta.), consistently among Western’s top scorers, had 11 points with eight kills, 11 digs, and a pair of both solo blocks and assisted blocks.

Right behind Screaton, with ten points each, was Sarah Lowry (Calgary, Alta.) and Caleigh Whitaker (Sharon, Ont.).  Lowry had six kills, eight digs, three service aces, and two assisted blocks.  Whitaker had ten kills and 12 digs.

Ottawa’s top scorer was Karina Krueger-Schwa (Blumenau, Brazil) with nine points.

The Mustangs look for another shutout on Nov. 15 against Brock (3-3) at Alumni Hall at 1:00 p.m.
