Mustangs take two from Warriors

Western improves to 6-4 after a doubleheader sweep over Waterloo

Things got back on track for the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon. Playing on the road against the Waterloo Warriors, the 'Stangs put forth their best offensive showing thus far in 2009 en route to a doubleheader sweep at Jack Couch Park in Kitchener, ON.

Western amassed a combined 22 runs on 21 hits in back-to-back wins, 9-2 and 13-2, to snap the team's three-game losing streak.

Left-hander Jordan Townshend earned the win in Game 1 of the doubleheader, while righty Andrew Bergman picked up the victory in Game 2.

With a record of 6-4, the Mustangs currently sit in third place in the OUA standings through action Saturday, trailing the Brock Badgers (6-2) and the Laurier Golden Hawks (6-3).

Western is back in action tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 20 against those same Golden Hawks. The teams will play a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. at Arnold Anderson Stadium in Brantford, ON.
