Guelph visits Western in opening playoff match

Feb. 19: OUA West Semifinal - Guelph at Western, 6 p.m. (Alumni Hall)

LONDON, Ont. -   The women’s volleyball team is getting set to face the Guelph Gryphons at home in the OUA West Semifinals at Alumni Hall on Feb.19 at 6 p.m. The winner qualifies for the OUA Final Four Feb. 26-28.

The series during the regular season was tied between the two teams, each winning one a piece on their home courts.

The Mustangs travelled to Guelph on Nov. 28 playing three close sets, however Guelph stole the victory with set wins of 24-26, 20-25 and 22-25.

In the rematch, the Mustangs put on a good show for their home crowd winning in five sets. Elaine Screaton (Calgary) carried the team with 17 points, 25 digs and two aces to defeat the Gryphons. Guelph did not go down without a fight winning two of the five matches and the scoring of the five sets were very close at 25-21, 25-18, 23-25,27-29 and 15-10.
