Steve Zagrodny of Laurier matched Paish almost every step of the way as he hurled 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on only four hits but suffered the loss.
A Laurier error on a
Paul Lytwynec (London, Ont.) groundball leading off the third inning proved costly and helped give Western a 1-0 lead. After moving to third on a base hit and walk, Lytwynec scored on
Kyle Harris’ bases loaded walk.
The Mustangs doubled their lead in the bottom of the sixth on Lytwynec’s RBI ground ball through the left side that scored
Jon Kim for a 2-0 Western lead.
Western returns to action on Sept. 19 when the Mustangs travel to Queen’s for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
