LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs powered past RMC in three straight sets putting them at 9-3 on the season.
Western won the first set with a score of 25-14, the second 25-15 and the third 25-14.
Elaine Screaton (Calgary, Alta.) lead the Mustangs with 16 total digs and second-year outside hitter Stephanie Kreuter (Rostock, Ont.) added three aces.
Western took an early lead in each set and did not allow RMC more than 15 points.
“I was pleased with our team effort tonight,” said Mustangs Coach Dave Edwards. “We were able to give our starters a rest before the match up against Queen’s tomorrow night. As for the match-up against No. 2 Queen’s, “we’re up for the task.”
Players of the game were Rebecca Oxland (Vancouver, B.C.) for Western and Danielle Vortisch for RMC.
The Mustangs take on No. 2 Queen’s tomorrow night at Alumni Hall. Game time is 6 p.m.
