LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs continued their win streak with a 3-0 win over the Laurier Goldenhawks Friday night at Alumni Hall.
The trouncing resulted in set scores of 25-14, 25-22 and 25-21 and the fifth consecutive win for the Mustangs. They are currently ranked third in the OUA West.
The first set saw quite a bit of back and forth plays until Western plowed ahead and left Laurier with only 14 points, taking the first set 25-14. Elaine Screaton, Rebecca Oxland and Jennifer Pierce each had three kills, while Claire Morrow, ranked third in the OUA for digs, added seven more to her current total of 228.

The third set was a little shakier at the beginning for Western and Laurier took an early lead. Western allowed Laurier to reach 21 points before wrapping up the game 25-21. Middle hitter Christie-Lee Wilson had three kills in the third set.
Players of the game were Morrow for the Mustangs and Brittney Hoppley for the Goldenhawks.
The Western Mustangs improve to 13-3 on the season with the win. They will look for their sixth consecutive win as they challenge the Waterloo Warriors on Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. in the last regular season home game at Alumni Hall.
