Dillon nets overtime goal for 3-2 victory over Waterloo

WATERLOO, Ont. – Katie Dillon scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner, to help lift the Western Mustangs 3-2 past the Waterloo Warriors on Sun. Jan. 22.

The Mustangs looked to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to Laurier yesterday night. Casey Rosen notched Western’s first goal at 10:04 of the second period. Dillon added her first goal of the night just six minutes later for a 2-0 lead heading into the final frame.

The Warriors countered the Mustangs attack as Ona Mezenberg brought the game within one with less than two minutes left in the third. Western tried to hold Waterloo off but Kelly MacLean tucked a second goal past Mustangs netminder Kelly Campbell for a 2-2 tie with only one second remaining.

Dillon scored the game-winning goal in the first minute of overtime to secure the Mustangs victory.

Today’s game against Waterloo marks veteran forward Lindsay Gidomski’s 100th game as a Mustang. In four seasons with Western, Gidomski has recorded 15 goals, 19 assists for 34 total points and 26 penalty minutes.

Western plays host to the UOIT Ridgebacks on Fri. Jan. 27. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. For tickets please visit http://westernmustangstickets.universitytickets.com/user_pages/event.asp?id=575&cid=84
