Where: Student Rec Center Atrium + Thompson Arena

Western Students, get ready for the first ever NHL20 and SSB Campus tournaments, hosted by Western Athletics! On Friday, February 7^th 2020, we will be hosting some of Western's first E-Sports tournaments – NHL20 (3v3) and SuperSmash Brothers (1v1) – at the WSRC and Thompson Arena. Each tournament only has room for 16 competitors, so make sure to register early. The SuperSmash Bros tournament will begin at 3PM in the Western Student Recreation Center. The NHL20 tournament will begin at approximately 6PM at Thompson Arena. The NHL20 Tournament will run concurrently with our Mustangs Men's Hockey game vs Laurier (7PM) – the perfect to watch when you're not gaming!

To make the day even better, we will have consoles dedicated to Free Play all throughout the day in the WSRC and during the game at the Thompson Arena concourse– where you can play your other favourites like FIFA20, Call of Duty, Rocket League, and more!

Tournament format - SuperSmash Bros:
- Each tournament will comprise 12-16 teams (max). The games will be played 1v1, where two players will compete against each other. Players are free to choose which character they will play with in the game.
- Each tournament will be a DOUBLE ELIMINATION tournament, meaning you will need to lose twice to be out. Each player is guaranteed 2 games.
- Consoles: This tournament will be played on the Nintendo Switch
- The first round for SSB will start at 3PM, NHL20 at 6PM – but be sure to check the schedule posted before the tournament begins to learn of your exact game times.

Tournament format – NHL20:

The tournament will comprise 16 teams of 3 players each. Each player on the team will control a player in the game. The goalies will be controlled by the computer.
If a game is tied after 3 periods we will move straight into a shootout – no overtime.
Consoles: Opportunity to play on PS4 or XBOX ONE – must specify when registering. (Limited number of XBOX ONE spots – majority PS4. Championship finals will be played on PS4)
The first round will begin at 6PM – but be sure to check the schedule posted before the tournament begins to learn of your exact game times.

Tournament Registration:
There will be a registration cost of $40 per player. This cost is to cover our equipment expenses and allows us to provide prizing to the winners.
Registration will happen through the normal Western Intramural process at shop.westernmustangs.ca

Registration for all four tournaments opens Monday November 4^th and ends Thursday February 6^th at midnight.

Prizing:
The winning player will receive:

$200 to the Western Bookstore
$100 to Lonestar Grill to celebrate the win
Recognition as the first ever Western Campus Champion, and a feature on the Western Mustangs social media channels.

12:30PM - 5:00PM: Free play in WSRC Atrium (over 10 games to play, 24 screens.)
3:00PM – 5:30PM – SuperSmash Bros Tournament in WSRC
6:00PM – Free play at Thompson Arena concourse
6:15PM – NHL20 Tournament begins
7:00PM- Mustangs Men's hockey game begins vs Laurier
7:30PM- NHL20 Tournament Finals played during intermission at Men's Hockey game.
