Western Brings Home Hardware from National Rowing Championships

Dave Lariviere and Mark Dawidek, gold in men's pair
Several Mustangs rowers competed at the National Rowing Championships this past weekend in Victoria, BC, where top rowers from all around the country come to finish off the 2012 competitive rowing season.  The Mustangs achieved some impressive results, with several pieces of hardware coming back to London!

Top results include gold in the men’s pair for Mark Dawidek and Dave Lariviere and in the women’s pair for former Mustang and last year’s female athlete of the year, Sarah Black, who is now training with the national team.  Current Mustang Jen Martins won a silver medal in the women’s pair.  The ‘stangs are bringing home three bronze medals; one by this week’s male Mustang athlete of the week, Adam Rabalski, in the men’s single, one by Erin Snelgrove in the lightweight women’s single, and one by Cathleen Trafton in the junior women’s single.  In the lightweight men’s pair, Western achieved fourth (Ian Connell & Dakin Wilson) and fifth (Graham Schenck & Marc Addison) place results respectively.  Lance Brazeau and Nick Schudlo finished fifth in the men’s pair.

Congratulations to all athletes on proving just how competitive the Western program is on the national level.  This ends the competitive racing season, and the Mustangs now head into a season of hard winter training.  Full results can be found at http://www.rowingcanada.org/competition/nrc/
