Gryphons take command 1-0 over Mustangs

Today the Men’s Mustangs lost to the Guelph Gryphons 1-0.

At 23 minutes Nick Agam crossed deep into the box, Pat Mroczek tried for the goal, but the Guelph goalie answered with a save. 25 minutes in, Eric Amato was awarded a free kick in front of the net, but was just shy of a goal.

At 44 minutes Guelph won a header in front of the Mustang box, but Ivan Skoko answered for the save.

Western played a beautiful first half, but was unable to score. The first half ended and the teams drew 0-0.

Eight minutes into the second half Vince Caminiti and Eric Amato worked together on the right; they managed to get a cross into Pat Mroczek, who just missed a header goal. A moment later, Colin Aubrey made a play on the left side, but the ball hit the post, he came in for the rebound and passed the ball into the goal. Guelph led 1-0.

The second half was a downhill battle for Western, however the team held on to a 1-0 loss, which was an improvement over their 2-0 loss to Guelph on September 23rd.

On the women's side, the Gryphons snatched the win in the final 2 minutes of the game, 1-0. Guelph played incredibly well and it was reflected in teh score. Western didn't have the best game, however, the Mustangs kept the score tight and let few chances to the net.
