LONDON, Ont. – The Mustangs women's lacrosse team put up two impressive wins at home on Saturday, defeating Laurier 15-7 and UOIT 12-2 to increase the team's undefeated 2013-2014 regular season record to 7-0.

"We did a lot of good things today" said Western's head coach
Dave Hastings. "Defence was excellent as always, goal tending was solid, and all the girls contributed."

Western opened up play in the morning against Laurier and got things off to a strong start with a goal from second-year player
Michelle Farrugia only five minutes into the game. The Golden Hawks were quick to respond with a goal of their own from Jennifer Graham, however, capitalizing on key turnovers the Mustangs would score six more times to close out the first half with a 7-3 lead.

Returning to the field, the Mustangs got a quick goal from fourth-year defender
Kristen Stafford and another from Farrugia. Laurier rebounded with a tremendous second effort that led to a series of back and forth scoring, however it wouldn't be enough and Western walked away with a 15-7 victory.

Western's second game of the day against UOIT began in a similar fashion with an opening goal from first-year player
Lauren Stewart around seven minutes into the game. Â The Mustangs would score seven unanswered goals before UOIT's Brit Simmons scored one for the Ridgebacks to end the first half with the Mustangs holding a convincing 8-1 lead.

The Mustangs continued to dominate in the second half as they were able to maintain possession and keep the ball primarily in UOIT territory. With four more goals for the Mustangs and one for UOIT, the game finished up with a 12-2 Mustangs win.

The Mustangs continue their season on Sunday, October 13, as they travel to Waterloo once again to take on Laurier at 11:30AM and Trent at 3PM.Â
