Playoff Game Preview: Mustangs to face Windsor in Round One

After battling the Windsor Lancers to a 1-1 draw and a 1-0 loss in the 2013 OUA regular season, the Western Mustangs men's soccer team will face the Windsor Lancers one more time, heading on the road to face the Lancers in the first round of the OUA playoffs on Wednesday night in Windsor.

The Mustangs finished the regular season with a 7-6-3 record, good for sixth place in the OUA West and the division's final playoff spot. Western trails the Lancers by only three points in the West Division standings, as Windsor holds a 7-3-6 record and the fifth playoff spot.

Western heads into Wednesday's action riding a four-game undefeated streak that's featured the purple and white outscoring their opponents by a 13-4 margin, including an impressive 5-1 victory over Guelph in the final game of the regular season.

Windsor also coming off of an impressive victory in their final contest of the season, as they shut out UOIT 4-0 on Sunday.

With both teams wrapping up the 2013 regular season on the right foot, Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a fight to the finish, as both teams will be looking to advance to the OUA quarterfinals, and keep on the road to the CIS Championships.

The Mustangs and the Lancers will go head-to-head in their first 2013 playoff game on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Windsor.
