Box Score ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Mustangs broke out of their two-game mini scoring slump in grand fashion and
Olivia Ross stopped 32 of 33 shots to power Western to a 5-1 victory over the Brock Badgers at the Seymour-Hannah Centre Saturday night.

After tough games against Toronto and Ryerson last weekend that saw them score one goal on 50 shots, the Mustangs came out firing on all cylinders Saturday night, sending 33 pucks towards the Brock net and converting on five of those opportunities.
Carly Rolph and
Casey Rosen both had two goals for Western while
Kendra Deller rounded out the Mustangs scoring with her second goal of the season just over 12 minutes into the first.

Rolph's two goals give her five on the year and a team-leading nine points in 10 games so far this season. They also signaled a special-teams breakthrough for the Mustangs. Coming into Saturday's game, Western had only managed five man-advantage goals in nine games. With her two goals tonight, Rolph now leads the team in power plays goals as no other Mustangs player has scored more than one.

Michelle Saunders and
Marlowe Pecora also had big nights for the Mustangs, notching two assists apiece in the victory. Pecora's assists were her fourth and fifth of the year and put her right behind Rolph for the team lead in points with eight, while Saunders' give her four points on the season.

Ross' appearance Saturday was her fourth of the season and the veteran netminder used it to continue her hot start, lowering her goals against average to 2.03 on the season and her save percentage to .935.

First-year Brock forward Brittany Gillmor was the only Badger to slip a goal past Ross on the night. Gillmor scored her first goal of her OUA career to spoil Ross' shutout with less than two minutes left in the game.Â

The Mustangs will take back to the ice on Sunday afternoon when they head to Guelph to take on the Gryphons at Gryphon Centre Arena. It will be the first meeting of the two teams this season and puck drop is at 2:00 p.m.
