The Western Mustangs women’s volleyball team is on the road this weekend after a loss to the Ryerson Rams during their last home game last weekend. The Mustangs fought hard but fell short 1-3 after four sets 1-3. The Mustangs honoured graduates Stephanie Kantzos, Rebecca Oxland, Danielle Marshall, Stephanie Kreuter, and Erin Miller on Friday for their great contributions to Western and their dedication as members of the Mustangs team. To finish off the OUA regular season, Western will challenge the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, February 9 and then finish up with the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday.
The Western Mustangs currently hold a 2012-2013 OUA record of 8-8 after last weekend’s loss to Ryerson, putting Western in a seventh place standing.
The ‘Stangs continue to be led by third place OUA Rebecca Oxland with 201 kills in 59 games played, totaling 246 points and a 4.18 point per game average.

Heading to Waterloo, the Mustangs will challenge the Warriors for their last game of the 2012-2013 OUA regular season. The Waterloo Warriors currently hold a 3-13 regular season record, sitting them five places below the Mustangs and two standings below Western’s first weekend opponent, the Guelph Gryphons, in a low 12
th place for the conference.
Last Friday, the Waterloo Warriors challenged the Guelph Gryphons in a match Guelph could not keep up with. The Warriors trumped the Gryphons in three straight sets; the last set showed a fight, but Guelph could not match Waterloo’s skill, allowing the Warriors to take the battle 3-0 (25-7, 25-21, 29-27).
The Waterloo Warriors are led by OUA tenth place Clara Tse, with 176 kills, 216 points, and a 3.61point per game average.
The Western Mustangs women’s volleyball team returns to the court next weekend where they will travel to challenge the Guelph Gryphons on Friday, February 8 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a contest against the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m. to finish off the OUA regular season.

Originally scheduled for Friday, the Guelph Gryphons are hosting the Western Mustangs this weekend for the Mustangs’ second last rally of the OUA regular season. The Guelph Gryphons sit just under the Western Mustangs in tenth place in the OUA with a record of 4-12.
Most recently, the Guelph Gryphons rallied with the Waterloo Warriors last Friday when they were not able to match Waterloo’s power and fell in three straight sets 0-3 (7-25, 21-25, 27-29).
Led by Julie Gordon, with 196 points, good for 14th place in the OUA regular season standings, totaling 171 kills and a 3.38 point per game average, Guelph hopes to challenge close standing Western this weekend. Gordon sits just under 12
th place Stephanie Kreuter and 13
th place Nimi Bassi from the Mustangs.
