KINGSTON, Ont. â Playing in front of an energetic Queen's Homecoming crowd, the Mustangs men's rugby team lost to the Gaels 8-33 on Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field.

With the loss, Western's record stands at 4-2-1 and maintains fourth place in the league, while Queen's stands at 6-1 and remains on top of the OUA standings.

The Gaels were first to contribute to the scoreboard, with a try and successful conversion 13 minutes into the first half. The Mustangs quickly responded with a try from
Glen Thomson-Bullock two minutes later.

Western pulled ahead of Queen's late in the first half with a penalty kick from fourth year
Mike Turnbull after a game stopping injury, ending the first half 8-7.

Queen's opened up the second half with a try and conversion at the three-minute mark. The Gaels soon extended their lead to 21-8 after an additional try and conversion kick 17 minutes into the half.

The Mustangs struggled to halt Queen's momentum and allowed two additional tries and a conversion kick in the second half, bringing the final score to 8-33 for the Gaels. Â

The Mustangs will travel to Hamilton on October 25 to play against McMaster in their final regular season game. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
