Mustangs face Paladins and Gaels this weekend in Kingston

Looking to bounce back after a 0-3 season opener against McMaster, the Mustangs will travel to Kingston this week to take on the RMC Paladins on Friday before finishing off their weekend schedule with a matchup against Queen's on Saturday.

With the addition of nine first year Mustangs to this year's squad, the team looks set to improve upon the previous season's 6-13 record. Among the returning players are Katherine Tsiofas, who was given a place on the 2013-14 OUA West All-Rookie team after a strong debut season, and Candace Scott, who was named an OUA West 2nd Team All-Star and finished the regular season ranked second in CIS overall attack percentage.

Western at RMC – Friday, October 24 at 8:00pm

After completing the 2013-14 season with a 6-13 record, RMC added six rookies to the roster to compliment the four returning players. Although it's still early in the season, the Paladins used a balance attack in their season opener last weekend with both Delanie Chang and Danielle Vortisch recorded seven kills, while Nicole Behnke was just behind with six.

Coming off a three set season opening loss against Waterloo, the RMC Paladins look to improve their record in the upcoming game against Western.

Western at Queen's – Saturday, October 25 at 6:00pm

There will be a new face behind the Queen's bench when the Mustangs square off with the Gaels on Saturday, as the team is now led by former Alberta Pandas assistant coach Michael Ling after he joined the Gaels this past summer. Ling brings over two decades of coaching experience to the Gaels, including helping the Pandas to a CIS championship in 2007 and a CIS silver medal in 2012.

With five rookies added to the Gaels' roster and a new head coach, the revamped team is preparing to improve upon last season's 10-9 record. Among the returning players are a pair of OUA East Second Team All-Stars in Katie and Brett Hagarty, and Gabrielle Down, an OUA East All-Rookie. Look for the Gaels to rely on their veteran stars as they attempt to get the 2014-15 season off on the right foot. The Gaels open their season on October 24 with a home game against Windsor before the host the Mustangs the following night.
