Preview: Mustangs eye a pair of wins against Windsor and Brock

Currently sitting at a 2-3 for the season, the Mustangs look to the weekend matches to improve their record after splitting last weekend's games with a three set win over Waterloo on Friday and a 3-1 loss to Guelph.

First year Social Science student Kelsey Veltman leads the Mustangs in total points with 66.5 while averaging 3.7 per set. The 6'2" rookie also tops the Mustang score sheet in total kills, and total service aces. Meanwhile first year libero Courtney Sestric has broken on to the CIS board, coming in second in digs per set.

The Mustangs average 11.15 kills per set, with a team hitting percentage of .170, while averaging 16.30 digs per set.

Western at Windsor - November 6 - 6:00pm

Coming off a 3-0 win against Waterloo, Windsor will head into Thursday's game looking for their first consecutive wins of the season.

With only five first years, Windor's team is more experienced than that of the Mustangs. The team sits at a 2-4 record, having defeated RMC and Waterloo in earlier matches. Last year, Western lost by a score of 1-3 both times the teams faced off, a trend the Lancers look to continue this Thursday.

Shannon Dean, a third year player for the Lancers, currently leads the team in total points with 78.5, averaging 3.7 per game. Dean also tops the score sheet in total blocks and total kills, recording 20 and 54 respectively while recording 11 service aces.

As a team, the Lancers average a hitting percentage of .156, with 10.95 kills per set with an average of 16.43 digs per set.

Game time is set for 6:00, at Windsor's St. Denis Centre.

Western at Brock – November 9 – 2:00pm

First facing off against Waterloo on November 8 before taking on Western on Sunday, the Badgers will be hoping for a pair consecutive wins this weekend to improve their current 2-3 record.

Averaging 10.06 kills per set with an attack percentage of .114 and 16.29 digs per set, Brock has proven to be a formidable opponent in their earlier matchups.

Renee Helmer currently leads the team in total points with 68, averaging four per set, as well as in total kills (61), while fourth year setter Lauren Stirling leads the team in total blocks with nine. Helmer also is currently ranked seventh in kills per set within the CIS, while libero Karlinna O'Leary comes in fourth for digs per set.

The game is set to begin at 2:00 in Brock's Bob Davis Gymnasium.
