KINGSTON, Ont. – The Mustangs travelled to Kingston for their first OUA regular season contest without home court advantage, but the unfamiliar court didn't slow them down at all. Western topped RMC in four sets (25-19, 21-25, 25-13, 25-10) to remain undefeated with a 4-0 record, while the Paladins record sits at 0-4.
Despite only seeing action in two of the four sets,
Kelsey Veltman led the offensive effort with 17 points. Right behind her was rookie
Carly Kimmett with 13 points. Kimmett also recorded a team-high 18 digs, with libero
Courtney Sestric recording 17.
Set one saw the Paladins come out swinging and challenge the Mustangs, with only a seven-point difference on the board by the end of the set. Unsatisfied with the loss, RMC responded by taking the second set 25-21.
The third set was the fastest of the night, with the Mustangs needing only ten minutes to top the Paladins by a score of 25-13. However, the following set was won by the greatest margin of the evening, with the Mustangs finishing out the game with a 25-10 win.
Tomorrow will see the Mustangs take on their long-time rivals in the Queen's Gaels. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with fans able to catch all the action
