LONDON, Ont. –
Braeden Gee provided all the offence the Mustangs would need, scoring twice in the second half to lift Western to a 2-0 win over the Windsor Lancers on Saturday afternoon at Mustang Field.
With the win, Western improves their record to 6-2-2 this season, and currently occupy fourth place in the OUA West Division standings, just four points back of the first place York Lions. Windsor moves to 4-7-1 with the loss and sit in sixth place, seven points behind the Mustangs.
After both teams recorded two shots each in the first half, Western controlled play in the second, registering nine shots and limiting the Lancers to none in the second half.
Gee's first goal game in the 49th minute to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. His second came over 40 minutes later when capitalized on a ball from
Rudy James to make the final score 2-0 for Western.
The Mustangs will now get set for a matchup with the first place Lions on Sunday afternoon in Toronto. After defeating the Lions 1-0 to open up the regular season the Mustangs will aim to snap York's seven game winning streak and move closer to the top of the standings when the game kicks off at 3:15 p.m.
