LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs pushed their winning streak to eight games with a 3-0 victory over the Windsor Lancers on Saturday afternoon at Mustang Field.
Western improves to 9-1-0 with the win and remain atop the OUA West standings with an eight point lead over both the Guelph Gryphons and Laurier Golden Hawks. The Lancers fall to 3-3-6 and hold down fifth in the West standings.
After a quiet start to the game midfielder
Kendra Marlatt notched her first goal of the season for the Mustangs at the 30-minute mark to give the purple and white a 1-0 lead heading into the first half.
The Mustangs didn't wait long to extend their lead, with
Jenna White making it 2-0 off of a ball from Julia Crnjac just 90 seconds into the second half.
Ten minutes later, Crnjac marked her own name on the scoresheet with her second goal in as many games to cement the 3-0 win for Western.
The Mustangs next matchup will take them on the road for a 1 p.m. contest tomorrow afternoon against the York Lions. After earning two consecutive draws, York will look to capture their second win of the season, while the Mustangs will aim to repeat the success they had back on August 25 when they defeated the Lions 1-0 at Mustang Field.
