WINDSOR, Ont. - Second-year striker Morgan Asling scored her second goal of the season to help lead the Western women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw against the Windsor Lancers on Friday evening in Windsor, Ont.

With the tie, the Mustangs move to an 8-0-5 record on the season and remain atop the OUA West division standings with three games remaining on the regular season schedule. The tie gives the Lancers a 2-5-6 record on the season as they sit in seventh place in the OUA West standings.

Western wasted no time getting on the scoreboard early in the match, as Nikki Balachorek set up Morgan Asling with a perfectly placed corner kick in the opening minutes to give Asling her first goal of the season and the Mustangs the early 1-0 lead. However, the Lancers responded midway through the half to tie the game at one goal apiece heading into halftime.

Western dominated the game in terms of shots and corner kick opportunities throughout the start of the second half but were unable to score against a competitive Windsor defence for the opening half of the frame. Both teams earned a handful of promising chances near the end of the match, but physical defence from both sides eventually led to the 1-1 draw.

The Mustangs will be back in action this Sunday, October 14 where they will host the Lancers in a rematch on Mustangs Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 P.M. EST.
