TORONTO – Western Mustangs head coach Brad Campbell will soon be trading in his purple and white for the red and white of Team Canada as he's been named the lead assistant coach for the Canadian squad competing in the 40th William Jones Cup in July.
"I am very excited and thankful to 3D Global Sports for this opportunity," said Campbell. "To be able to represent Canada and coach in an international tournament like the Jones Cup is amazing. It will be an incredible learning experience I will bring back to Western."
Campbell will be helping to guide a team of Canadian pros as they take to the court in New Taipei City, Taiwan, from July 14-22. Team Canada, run by Toronto's 3D Global Sports, will be looking to defend their title after finishing last year's event with an 8-1 record. This year's team will be led by head coach Chris Oliver, who also serves as the bench boss for the Windsor Lancers.
The Canadian squad is one of nine teams at the event, alongside the national teams from Iran, Iraq, Korea, Japan, and the Philippines. Chinese Taipei will send two groups of national team players to the event, with the field rounded out by the Lithuania Atletas team.
Team Canada's training camp begins on July 5. They'll then travel to Taiwan with the tournament taking place from July 14-22.
