Men's Soccer vs. Brock

MUSTANGS END WEEKEND WITH 0-0 DRAW AGAINST BADGERS

9/23/2018 6:54:00 PM

LONDON, Ont. - The Western men's soccer team earned a tightly-contested 0-0 draw against the Brock Badgers on Sunday afternoon in St. Catharines, Ont.

With the tie, the Mustangs currently hold a 3-3-3 record on the season and hold sixth position in a competitive OUA West division. The draw gives the Badgers a 3-5-1 record on the season, as they sit in seventh place in the OUA West, directly behind Western.

Western outplayed Brock in most respects throughout the afternoon, as the Mustangs' offence continually created scoring chances to put themselves into scoring position, but five key saves from the Badgers' Alexander May kept the purple and white from getting on the board.

The Mustangs were also held back once again by their penalties, amounting 15 fouls and five yellow cards on the afternoon. However, despite the physical nature of the game, Western's skill was enough to leave the match at a 0-0 draw to end the day.

The Mustangs will be back in action next Saturday, September 29, where they will host the Algoma Thunderbirds for the first game of a back-to-back weekend matchup on Mustangs Field. The game is set to begin at 3:15 P.M. EST.
