Box Score London, ONT- Western Mustangs take the W against the Brock Badgers on Sunday.
The Mustangs took the field with grit and determination Sunday afternoon, evidently hungry to continue their winning streak.
With under fifteen minutes into the game, Giulia Geraci buried a forceful goal, assisted by teammate Sabine Gillie-Hardy. Sabine powerfully passed the ball diagonally to Geraci, who shot the ball into the top right corner of the net to take the lead.Â
"It was good ball movement. We moved the ball really quick. We had different players moving forward which really allowed us to open and spread the back four, and thats where the goal came from" said Geraci, selflessly acknowledging her teammates.
Western dominated during the first half, with several other close shots on net. After the first goal, it was evident that the team was hungry for more. The Mustangs continued to generate momentum in the first half, playing with intensity and determination.
In the second half of the game, the two teams were more evenly matched. "We started really well and played a really good first half" Martin Painter, head coach explained. "The second half wasn't as good, I don't think our performance was as good, but we held on for the win and defended well."
The Mustangs are looking for another W tomorrow as they face the Waterloo Warriors. "Every game we play our objective is to win . . . we want to improve on today's performance in the sense that we want to play for 90 minutes," said Painter.
The Mustangs are 6-0-1 with the win, and are set to face off against Waterloo tomorrow at Warrior Field, with a start time of 1:00 PM.
