Purple Blanket Awards are granted to students who, often in their graduating year, are nominated by their coaches and chosen by members of the Selection Committee. Nominated individuals must have been a Western Mustangs student athlete for a minimum of three (3) years, have received a minimum of three (3) First Colour Awards throughout their career, and have been an active participant in their respective sport at the time of recommendation.

Good, an outstanding shot putter, has been part of the Mustangs Track and Field Team since 2016. She has won five (5) First Colour Awards over her five years with the Mustangs and was her Event Group Captain in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. Good was an OUA 2nd Team All Star in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and has helped her team place in multiple OUA and U Sports Championships throughout her career. In her debut season, Good was awarded the Bob Vigars Rookie of the Year award, and has won two Field Event M.V.P. Awards in the 2017-18 and 2019-20 seasons. Individually, in her most recent 2019-20 season, Good placed second in the OUA and third in the U Sports Championship.
Track and Field Team Head Coach Vickie Croley noted Good's persistence and determination as she, with a height of 5'3, competes "in an event dominated by women who are six feet tall." "[Good] has a no quit attitude, she never misses a practice and is open to trying new drills and focuses to improve her technique... However, her biggest attribute is her attitude. She is beloved by her teammates and competitors alike. There is always an available smile and giggle." remarked Coach Croley.
Coach of the Throws Events Sylvia Kontra had been working with Good for the past five years as well. "Her attitude approachability and work ethic will drive her to continually find ways to make a difference." said Coach Kontra.
Good is finishing her degree from the Health Sciences program at Western and outside of her participation with the Track and Field Team, she has been a member of the Student Athlete Mental Health Initiative (SAMHI), the USC Accessibility Committee and the Western Sign Language Club.
Congratulations to Emily Good for her incredible contributions to the Western Mustangs and winning a 2020-21 Purple Blanket Award.
