COVID-19 Updates: Information for the Campus Community

6/10/2021 7:07:00 AM

Update August 22, 2022

Western University has provided a Fall 2022 update. The policy, along with FAQs, is available at www.uwo.ca/coronavirus.

Updated June 29, 2022
Effective immediately, masks will no longer be required indoors at Western, Brescia University College, Huron University, and King's University College at Western University until further notice, with a few exceptions (including the July 4-8 graduation celebrations in Alumni Hall). Public health continues to encourage the use of masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please respect those who choose to continue to wear masks. This means that effective immediately, we will no longer be requiring our staff or members to mask in the Western Student Recreation Centre. We would ask that individuals still self-monitor for symptoms, wash hands frequently, and wipe down machines after using. We will be changing the signage in our facility to reflect these changes. Western is actively working on the vaccination policy and we will provide an update prior to September 1. For more information, please visit www.uwo.ca/coronavirus

Updated Feb 17, 2022
We are excited to announce that starting Friday, February 18, our on-campus games will be open to external fans, in addition to faculty, staff and student spectators. Tickets must be ordered online at www.westernmustangs.ca/tickets in advance of the game. Provincial, MLHU, and Western policies will continue to apply to all attendees.

Updated Feb 2, 2022
Mustangs Varsity games are scheduled to resume starting on February 9. The finalized schedule is still being worked on for those sports where some games or additional competition will be added, please check our website for details as they are confirmed.

Initially, Western will be allowing 50% seated capacity, in accordance with current provincial guidelines, and only campus community members (students, faculty, and staff) will be permitted to attend our games as spectators. We anticipate that this will be reviewed when the provincial government moves to increase spectator capacities on February 21. Volleyball, Basketball, and Hockey games will be streamed on Mustangs TV. More information will be available on our website as it becomes available.
Tickets for confirmed games are now available at www.westernmustangs.ca. All individuals must show a valid Western ID at the door, along with an online ticket purchase to gain entrance to the event.

March 13, 2020

Western University is continuously monitoring the situation in conjunction with the Middlesex London Health Unit and the Public Health Agency of Canada. The University is providing regularly updated information at https://www.uwo.ca/coronavirus/

After extensive consultation with experts about the current situation surrounding  coronavirus (COVID-19), Western University cancelled classes starting Friday March 13 up-to and including March 17.

Starting Wednesday, March 18, classes will be online through to the end of term. However, the University and university buildings remain open. Facilities such as the libraries, recreation centre, food services and health services all remain open.

Therefore, Western Campus Recreation is currently operating as usual, with increased cleaning measures, and hours of operation posted on the main page. As you can appreciate, this is a very fluid situation and as mentioned, we are continuously monitoring the situation.

More detailed information about these changes is available for students, faculty, and staff on our main COVID-19 website.
