WATERLOO, ON - The Mustangs last game was a loss against the same Waterloo team. Losing this game 5-1, a strong response from the Western team was sparingly on the ice.
Waterloo dominated play from the moment the puck dropped and rarely gave Western a moment to find their footing and try and swing the momentum.
Western went scoreless for the first 2 periods tonight, finally notching a tally early in the third to bring the game to 4-1.
Goal Scorer Andrew Bruder brought some skill in the slot to give a jolt of energy to the Mustang bench.
Team defense has been an issue for a couple of games now for this Mustangs group, some defensive work is certainly going to be a point of emphasis over the next week of practices.
The group is now in its fourth game with significant new additions to the lineup and the growing pains are present.
The Mustangs battled throughout the entire 60 minutes just could not find a timely goal or save to rally around and ignite the team.
Penalties ultimately cost the Mustangs this game, allowing 2 goals while on the penalty kill. They could not convert on any of their 4 opportunities.
