Mustangs Lose Road Battle to Windsor

WINDSOR, ON - The Mustang offense has seemingly dried up since their 5-3 win over Windsor on Thursday, scoring only 1 goal across the two games since. Windsor managed to complete the shutout win with a score of 2-0.

The regular season has come to an end and the Mustangs look to jump start their offense come playoff time.

Goaltender Kaitlyn Booth played her role in keeping the game close, only allowing 2 goals on 35 shots. Posting a .942 Save Percentage in the contest.

The Mustangs brought a spark to their game in the first period, despite their fast pace and strong defense the Lancer offense was able to put their first goal on the board.

What turned out to be the early game winning goal shows the recent struggles of the Western offense being unable to tie the game with the remaining 45 minutes.

The second period was tightly contested as Western was able to keep Windsor off the board.

Penalty trouble once again cost the Mustangs opportunities to generate sustained offense, dealing with a 16 total penalty minutes. Windsor only tallied 8 minutes.

The third period carried on and Western had trouble keeping pace with the Lancers. Windsor scored early in the frame and all but extinguished the hopes of a comeback.

Despite closing the regular season with a loss Western has played well in 3 tight games, only being outscored 7-6 across the series.

The Mustangs look to the playoffs to re-find their scoring touch. They are set to play Windsor again for the 4th straight game. Both teams know each other well so another tight match is all but certain.

The playoffs will start with the The Mustangs playing the Lancers on the road Wednesday March 9.
