Mustangs finish 2nd for both men's & women's teams at 2023 OUA Rowing Championship

St. Catharines, ON – The Mustangs are coming home with plenty of hardware and a 2nd place overall finish on both the men's and women's team standings after the 2023 OUA Rowing Championships this weekend.

On the men's side, Western took gold medals in the Heavyweight Men's 8, the Heavyweight Men's 4 & the Heavyweight Men's Pair.

The team also took silver medals in Men's Pair, Lightweight Men's 8, Lightweight Men's Pair and Men's 1x.

Sam Stewart was a standout for Western as he collected gold in the Men's 8 and Men's Pair.

On the Women's side, the Mustangs won gold in the Heavyweight Women's 8 & the Heavyweight Women's 4.

Silver medals were won in Women's Pair & Lightweight Women's 8. Western also took bronze in Women's Pair, Lightweight Women's 4 & Lightweight Women's Pair.

Rachel Weber, who was on the u23 national team this summer, Won in both Heavyweight Women's 8 and Heavyweight Women's 4.

"Very proud of our team in the way they competed in what was a very challenging competition with a lot of great performances by our student-athletes." said Mustangs Men's Rowing Head Coach Dan Bechard "Hats off to Brock's Men and Queen's Women for their accomplishment.  We look forward to racing again in two weeks' time."

The Mustangs will now prepare for the Canadian University Rowing Championship which starts November 10 in Burnaby, BC.
