London, ON - Today's team recognition as part of the 2023 Mustangs Season of Celebration is the Mustangs Water Polo team.


 
The Mustangs faced some tough competition in the OUA as the 'Stangs took advantage of their opportunities to grow and gain valuable playing experience. The highlight for Western was a 12-7 win in Ottawa over the Gee-Gees in mid-October. 
 
At the OUA Championships in Hamilton, Western fell just short of the bronze medal finishing fourth. The Mustangs booked a spot in the semi-finals with a 19-16 victory over Ottawa, which they ultimately lost to defending champions Toronto 28-3. The purple and white then battled Queen's for bronze, with the Gaels winning 15-13 in a hard-fought match. 
 
The team MVP is Aiden Dueck Thiessen 
 
Bronze W recipients are: Alexander Kosivchenko, Benjamin Matthews, and Andrew Youssef
 
Graduating Ring recipients are: Graham Bohm, Fei Gao, and Andrew Youssef
