Track & Field Coach sets Canadian triple jump record

London, ON - Caroline Ehrhardt credits her role as an assistant coach with the Mustangs Track & Field as motivation toward her own athletic goals which led to her breaking the Canadian record in the triple jump last weekend.

During the 2023 Bob Vigars Classic, on her 4th jump of the event, Ehrhardt would jump a whopping 14.03 metres to set the Canadian record.

"Mentoring the student athletes and having the privilege of helping them navigate their own journeys has given me so much perspective that has only helped me in my own." said Ehrhardt "I started triple jumping at a very young age and as a kid I hoped to one day grow up and break the Canadian record. I was very close for many years but it somehow always managed to elude me. When I came on as an assistant coach, I changed so much as an athlete and person."

Ehrhardt has been the Horizontal Jumps coach with the Mustangs since 2021.

"Caroline has meant the world to so many people and she has shared the highs and the lows publicly for years therefore everyone feels so much joy for her accomplishment." said Vickie Croley, Head Coach of the Mustangs Track & Field team "It's incredibly special to have her own Western athletes competing with her and watching this amazing accomplishment."

Ehrhardt is the first Canadian woman to break the 14m barrier outdoors.

"The kids I work with mean the world to me and are the best part of my day, every day." said Ehrhardt "They inspire me more than they could ever know. Having them there at the meet and seeing how excited they were to see me finally have my day was the most incredible and emotional moment of my life."
