London, ON - The Western Mustangs are excited to announce a major new investment in Western Alumni Stadium. Work will begin on installing a new permanent state of the art OES videoboard in Western Alumni Stadium in early 2024.
This new Stadium enhancement will bring vital elements to the fan viewing experience. A videoboard provides our show director with the ability to execute a full collection of fan prompts and hype videos that will excite and entertain Mustangs fans creating a more immersive experience. The ability to show replays will provide spectators with a second look at the live action, and sponsored elements will create new revenue generation opportunities for our department.
A videoboard also provides ultimate flexibility, as important messaging can be displayed more effectively and we will now have the advantage of personalization. There will also be opportunities to bring even more events to Western Alumni Stadium with this addition - enabling movie nights, live streaming of events, and more.
OES is a local company whose scoreboards, scoring systems & timing products can be found in over 40% of pro venues. Their cutting-edge products grace sporting arenas of over 40% of professional venues and have established enduring partnerships with well-known leagues such as the NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB, CHL, MiLB, CFL, as well as Canadian Colleges and Universities. OES scoreboards take pride in enhancing the overall experience for both athletes and fans. We are very pleased to partner with them to make this significant upgrade to Western Alumni Stadium.
"We're excited to be working with OES Scoreboards to bring the latest LED video display technology to Western Alumni Stadium, taking the engagement experience to the next level. Having the capacity to more creatively support our teams, and our signature events and programming in our facilities allows us to build a more transformational student experience. It also contributes positively to Western's community spirit and engagement, and to our building of world-class competition and event facilities, all of which are a part of our new Sports & Recreation strategic plan." said Christine Stapleton, Director, Sports & Recreation, Western University
The new videoboard will be located in the South End Zone, and will include a 30' x 20' video display and a 30' x 10' scoreboard. The existing scoreboard frame, which was brought over from the former J.W. Little Stadium and installed in 2000 in the North End Zone above the Kirkley building will be retrofitted and work in sync with the new videoboard.
"This investment will significantly improve the gameday experience for our students, fans, players and community. This videoboard will allow us to be more innovative in our coverage of our student athletes and teams and will help the Western Mustangs to attract more students, community members and fans to our games by creating more immersive and engaging fan experiences." said Greg Marshall, Head Coach, Western Mustangs Football.
