Toronto, ON - The Mustangs kept it close through 20 minutes against TMU but dropped a 6-2 loss to the Bold Wedensday night.
The first period was a challenge by both teams to gain dominance, and unsuccessful shots on net. About halfway through the first period, TMU was able to score the opening goal, taking the lead. With just over two minutes left of the first period, after a scramble in front of the net, defenceman Anthony Allepot was able to score a goal from the point, tying the score 1-1 after the first 20 minutes of play.Â
The second period started off with more battling for puck possession, and five minutes into the second period, TMU scored and made the scoreboard 2-1. Shortly after, TMU was able to score yet another goal, making the score 3-1 in favour of TMU. At 10:00, Zach Power assisted by Jacob Santerre scored a goal for the Mustangs, making the score 3-2.
Just shortly after, TMU were able to score their fourth goal of the evening, furthering their lead. The second period finished with a 4-on-4 play and the score was 4-2 in favour of TMU.Â
The start of the second period led with a powerplay for TMU, and an intense few saves by goaltender Jack Mcnaughton. With less than three minutes left in the third period, Western had a 6-on-5 advantage with a pulled goalkeeper, but TMU was able to get an open net goal, bringing the score to 5-2 for TMU. An unfortunate brawl meant that to finish the third period, the Mustangs serving two five-minute penalties. In the last minute of play, TMU was able to score one final goal, finishing the game with the score being 6-2 for the TMU Bold.Â
