Mustangs Coast past Voyageurs, 88-71

LONDON, ON -
On Saturday night, the Mustangs looked to extend their winning streak to three games against the Laurentian Voyageurs.

Western came out pushing the Voyageurs to play at an uncomfortable pace. They executed the zone well and Laurentian was unable to penetrate. Milan John took charge for the Mustangs with 8 points as they led 24-15 after the first quarter.

The Mustangs offense struggled from 3PT range but did a good job driving and drawing fouls. At the half, they made 18 of 20 free throws, Mikyle Malabuyoc went 10-10 from the free throw line. Western coasted to the break up 10, 46-36.

The Mustangs came out in the third quarter and quickly ran away with the game. They extended their lead to as much as 22 points, and were up 74-52 after the third quarter. Malabuyoc continued to get to the free throw, finishing the night with 25 points and 3 steals.

Noah Otshudi also got going, getting to his spots in the mid range. He finished the night with 25 points and 5 assists. Western closed out the game winning 88-71, making this their fifth win of the season and third in a row.

"This is our third game in a row winning so we've got some momentum going into the break so we just got to bring in the habits that we had today and just bring it into Wednesday hoping to get the win as well" said Otshudi.

The Mustangs are back in action on Wednesday, November 27th at 8PM for a semi-final rematch against the Brock Badgers at Alumni Hall.
