3/7/2024 11:16:00 AM

Thorold, ON - A strong second day performance propelled the Mustangs Figure Skating team to their second consecutive OUA Championship this week.

Western won by just 3 points over Toronto after trailing the Varsity Blues by 8 points through the first day of competition.

"Being a back to back banner winner is even more special because we proved that with hard work, consistency and teamwork, we could defend our title and have great performances" said Natalie D'Alessandro "Everyone worked so hard this year and finishing off the season on such a high feels amazing.

The championship came down to the final event, the Synchro, which Western took gold and secured the banner.

"When we finished our last synchro performance, the thought of winning didn't even cross my mind. I was just so happy in the moment that we gave it all we had and skated like we knew we could." said D'Alessandro.

The Mustangs led all schools with five gold medals including:
Evelyn Walsh in  - Open Gold Artistic
Natalie D'Alessandro, Victoria Morgado, Josh Andari, Keanna Davidson in Dance Fours
