LONDON, ON -
Looking for their fourth consecutive win, the Mustangs were back in action against the York Lions. Jumping out quickly in transition, the Mustangs quickly led 10-3 midway through the first quarter. They continued to build on their lead, and finished the quarter 23-15.
Lucas Sheets led the way for the Mustangs, pulling down defensive rebounds and penetrating the paint. He finished the half with 11 points, including 6 rebounds. Noah Otshudi, on the back of a 30-point performance also got into the action, working in the mid range and cutting around the basket. He finished the half with 8 points.
In the third quarter, the Mustangs extended their lead to as much as 25 points, heading into the final frame up 70-45.
They continued to pour on the pressure, having another great night shooting the ball. The Mustangs shot 49% from the field and 47% from the three point line. They coasted to earn their fourth straight win 90-66.
"We pushed the pace pretty well at some points and that's when we're at our best, when we're out and running in the open court", said Sheets. He finished the night with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Malabuyoc emphasized the importance of the Mustangs defence in their four game win streak. "Our defense has probably been our most important part. Obviously, the defense leads to offense. Earlier in the year our defense was ranked near the bottom, and we want to make the playoffs and nationals so our defense has to be up there with everybody else in the OUA".
