On Friday night, the Mustangs looked to make it seven straight wins against the Laurier Golden Hawks. They nailed four threes in the first quarter, building an early lead of 9 points. Imran Armstrong nailed back-to-back threes to end the quarter.
Both teams fought hard in the second quarter, but Western maintained the lead at half-time. The Mustangs shared the ball on offense, Armstrong shared out 5 of the teams' 14 assists at the break. Matteo Zagar also pulled down 6 rebounds to his 9 points at the break.
Laurier came back in third quarter, led by Taye Donald who notched three 3s in the quarter. The Mustangs showed their depth, continuing to share the rock. They shared out 17 assists heading into the fourth, as Western led 47-45 heading into the fourth quarter.
The game went down to the wire in the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs were able to close it out. Noah Otshudi and Mikyle Malabuyoc both found ways to score, leading the Mustangs down the stretch. Western closed out the game 70-68, earning their seventh straight win.
