London, ON - The Western Mustangs Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5 are Hanneke Isert Bender from Softball & Victoria Lamb from Cross Country.

Victoria finished 3rd in the gold race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational with a time of 17:06.9 for 5km, which is also a Western school record.

Hanneke led the Mustangs at the plate over the weekend and was instrumental in helping the team clinch top seed in the OUS West division. In 3 games and 11 plate appearances, Hanneke had 6 hits (4 1B, 1 2B and 1 HR), 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored, .545 batting and .909 slugging percentage. In Right Field, Hanneke made 6 putouts in 6 total chances, 1.000 fielding percentage, in  3 games. She also came in clutch on the mound closing the game on her Seniors day, striking out 2 in one inning and leaving 2 on base.
