London, ON - The Western Mustangs returned to Thompson Arena on Saturday night for the second half of their weekend set, falling 2–0 to the Windsor Lancers in a tight and fast-paced matchup.

The Mustangs opened the game with strong puck possession and tempo, registering an early shot on net within the first minute of play. Western continued to push offensively throughout the first period, generating several scoring chances including a near goal from Janique LaBossiere that struck the crossbar. Goaltender Ella Brabrook stood tall at the other end, keeping the game scoreless through 20 minutes with several composed saves.

In the second period, Windsor capitalized late in the frame to break the deadlock at 18:10 and take a 1–0 lead. Western continued to battle, producing multiple offensive looks and creating pressure around the Lancers' crease. Brabrook made several key saves to keep the Mustangs within striking distance heading into the third.

Western came out with urgency in the final period, nearly finding the back of the net early on with a clean breakaway opportunity. However, Windsor extended their lead midway through the frame with a backhand goal to make it 2–0, a score that held until the final buzzer.

Despite the result, the Mustangs' effort and structure remained strong throughout the contest. "I think obviously we got ourselves in some great areas," said head coach Brittney Howard. "You've got to be able to cash, and that comes from practice — having the mentality that every time you shoot the puck, you're looking to score. That consistency is something we're continuing to build."

Howard also praised her goaltender's composure under pressure. "Ella played outstanding. She's been at the helm every single time she's been in the pipes. She controls the game, and she kept us in it tonight," said Howard.

The evening also featured a special atmosphere at Thompson Arena, with local Girl Guides in attendance cheering on the Mustangs. Reflecting on the significance of that moment, Howard added, "Our team are role models for the next generation, and it's fabulous that these young girls get to come watch visible female athletes. I didn't have that growing up, and it's something that's starting to change — it's excellent to see."
