Guelph, ON – The Mustangs Men's Curling team finished 1&3 at the 2025 OUA Championship.
Western opened the event taking a 6-1 win over Windsor. The Mustangs dropped a single point in the opening end but responded in the second end with three points to open up a 3-1 lead. Western would follow that up with single points in the next three ends to pick up the win.
The Mustangs would round out day one of the event with a tough battle against McMaster. Western opened with a single point in the 1
st end and then both sides blanked the 2
nd and 3
rd end. In the 4
th end McMaster took a single point to tie things up at 1-1. The Marauders came on strong in the 5
th end with three points and followed that up with two more points in the 6
th end and opened up a 6-1 lead. McMaster added one more point in the 7
th end and Western conceded the win.
Day two of the event saw the Mustangs drop a 9-1 result to the Carleton who came out firing. The Ravens got three points in the opening end and added another point in the second end and were up 4-0. Western got a point in the third end to cut the lead to 4-1 but Carleton responded with four points in the fourth end and moved their lead to 8-1. The Ravens added another point in the fifth end and the Mustangs conceded the win.
The afternoon matchup for the Mustangs was the Toronto Varsity Blues. Toronto would put a consistent effort throughout the match as they got single points in the first and second ends and then added two more in the third end. The Varsity Blues added single points in the fourth and fifth ends, and Western would get a point in the sixth end to cut the score to 6-1. Toronto would get another single point in the 7
th end to finish things out at 7-1.
