With Alumni Hall buzzing, the Mustangs came out and played at a high pace, forcing turnovers and capitalizing in transition. Western made a point to show a better effort on the glass, out-rebounding Windsor 12-6. Paris Alexander had 2 of the teams' 3 threes as the game was even stevens after the first 10 minutes.Â

The Mustangs continued to double-team and trap in the paint, which helped force Windsor to settle for mid-range shots. They continued to out-rebound the Lancers 15-14 at the half. Offensively, Western looked more settled and in-control, playing at their own pace and sharing the ball. Alexander led the Mustangs at half, with 9 points.Â
Windsor took the lead at the break, up 31-30.Â
Jenna Button nailed 2 threes in the third quarter to take her tally on the night to 16 points. The Lancers out-rebounded the Mustangs in the quarter which helped them take control of the game and build a 6-point lead. They led into the fourth quarter 51-45.Â
The Lancers extended their lead in the fourth quarter to as much as 16 points. The Mustangs offense slowed, and the Lancers took advantage in the paint. Windsor maintained their lead and took the game 78-64.Â
The Mustangs rebounding faded in the second half, grabbing only 10 boards to the Lancers 24.Â
"In a lot of ways it [rebounding] was the difference. We've just got to find ways to manufacture extra looks when we're not necessarily making shots", said Head Coach Nate McKibbon.Â
