London, ON – The Western Mustangs Softball team will have a new interim leader when the 2025-26 season gets underway, as Rebecca Goudy steps into the role.

The longtime softball player and coach has been involved with the Mustangs program for ten years and is excited to continue the program's long history of success.



"I am absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead this team." said Goudy. "My entire career changed once I started coaching with Western, and I am so very thankful to have gained so much knowledge and mentorship over the years."

Goudy comes from a long line of coaches.  She started coaching volleyball in high school after local legend Vaughan Peckham suggested she would be a good coach. She played and coached with the Forest City Volleyball Club through high school and university. Her softball coaching career began in 2011 with Lucan-Ilderton Girls' Softball.

"My coaching philosophy has evolved over the years. Everything that I do will be with intention and purpose," said Goudy. "All the decisions I make will always be in the best interest of the team.  As a coach, being ready for everything and anything has played a key role in learning how to lead."

Goudy has filled out her coaching staff with Coach Kara Stirling returning to assist with the pitching staff.  Ryan Wolfe is joining the team to work on hitting and outfielders, and Jake Draper is joining to assist with infielders.



"Being from London, I have deep roots in the sporting community here.   I have had so much support from former coaches, community leaders, family members and friends along the way." said Goudy "I have no doubt that Western Softball will continue to receive the great support from our alumni and community as we continue to grow stronger each year."
