GAME RECAP

Set one was tight right from the start. Western got things going early with strong serving to take a 6–3 lead, but Waterloo settled in and pushed back to tie it at 6–6. From there it turned into a long back-and-forth stretch with both teams siding out cleanly and answering each other's runs. Waterloo found a bit of momentum late to go up 17–14, which forced Western to regroup, and Western responded by tightening things up at the net and getting a few key points to tie it back up at 17–17. The set stayed close all the way to the end, but Waterloo managed to grab the final points and edged it out 25–23.

The second set looked very different. Western came out aggressive and built an early lead, jumping ahead 5–1 and forcing Waterloo to take an early timeout. Western kept the pressure on with tough serves, solid blocking, and quick points in transition, stretching the lead into the double digits. Waterloo tried to claw back with a few points here and there, but Western never really let them get comfortable. Western stayed composed late and closed the set out 25–16.

The third set started fairly even, but Western slowly began to pull away by winning longer rallies and capitalizing on Waterloo errors. Once Western reached the 20–18 mark, they went on a strong finishing run that included a service ace, a clean block, and a couple of quick kills off good passes. Waterloo tried to slow things down with a timeout, but Western kept the momentum and finished the set 25–19.

Set four was all Western. After an early tie, Western rattled off a long run to take control, building a 12–7 lead behind steady serving and strong defense. Waterloo struggled to stop the momentum as Western continued to score in transition and limit mistakes. The gap kept growing, and Western stayed sharp to the end, cruising to a 25–15 win to close out the match.
