GAME RECAP

After a split weekend against Waterloo, the Mustangs were back on their home court up and ready to play the York Lions.
It was a decent start for the Mustangs with a 9-7 lead. Both the teams seemed to have a few communication issues early on but managed to work through them. After a nasty hit through the block from the Mustangs, the Lions called their first timeout at 11-7. After a few errors from the Mustangs, York caught up and tied the score at 15 all, resulting in a timeout from Western. The Lions then asked for a timeout at 21-17 after struggling to get the ball over the net due to serve receive errors. Western ended up taking the set 25-19 to make it a 1-0 game.
The second set was a great start for Western with back to back kills while keeping the ball up with all their efforts. York asked for a timeout at 8-2 in efforts to break Westerns streak and regroup. The Lions then asked for another timeout at 13-2. The Mustangs were incorporating lots of sneaky plays and consecutive kills this set. The Lions seemed to be making a lot more errors and Western was not giving them a chance to redeem themselves. At this point the score was 22-4. After a crazy block and then immediate kill, the Mustangs took the second set at 25-4, making it 2-0.
The third set began well for both teams with quite the rallies to start it off at 5-5. Both teams were fighting to keep the ball in play, leading to long rallies and countless saves. Then at 11-7 the Lions called a timeout to close the gap. The Mustangs would not allow them to catch up and kept pushing on the Lions with kills for days. York called another timeout at 17-10. With Western on a roll, the Lions were beginning to loose hope. Western was up on their energy with cheers after every good play. Although it wasn't a great start to the game for the Mustangs, they overcame their hardships and ended off with a banger. The set ended at 25-15 with a 3-0 sweep for Western.
